This Privacy Policy describes how Dejavu English (the "Site", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit, use our services, or make a purchase from https://dejavuenglish.com/ (the "Site"), use our browser extension "Send to Dejavu Reader", or otherwise communicate with us (collectively, the "Services"). For purposes of this Privacy Policy, "you" and "your" means you as the user of the Services, whether you are a customer, website visitor, browser-extension user, or another individual whose information we have collected pursuant to this Privacy Policy. Please be informed that the website http://dejavuenglish.com is a proprietary software owned by Seljuk Solutions Ltd, a registered company headquartered in the United Kingdom.

Browser Extension ("Send to Dejavu Reader")

This section specifically describes the data practices of the Dejavu English browser extension "Send to Dejavu Reader" (Chrome Web Store item ID hmdcfiapjlflajgoieaifmocmaelanog), and the equivalent build distributed through other browser-extension stores. It supplements, and where it conflicts with, takes precedence over the more general statements elsewhere in this Privacy Policy with respect to the extension.

The single purpose of the extension is to let an authenticated Dejavu English user save the article they are currently reading to their personal Dejavu Reader archive and, optionally, run language analysis on it (vocabulary extraction, CEFR-level assessment, definitions, translations, text-to-speech). The extension does not run in the background, does not act on pages the user has not explicitly chosen, and does not include any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking code.

What Data the Extension Collects

When you use the extension, the following categories of data are processed:

• Authentication information: When you sign in from the extension popup, your email address and password are transmitted over HTTPS to our API at https://api.dejavuenglish.com for the sole purpose of authenticating you. Your password is never written to local extension storage and never persisted on your device. On a successful sign-in, the server returns a bearer access token that the extension stores locally in the browser (via chrome.storage.local). The extension treats the token as expired after 85 days and signs you out automatically thereafter; the server also expires the token on its side.
• Personally identifying information: Your email address is used to identify your Dejavu English account at sign-in. The extension does not collect your real name, phone number, postal address, payment details, device identifiers, advertising IDs, biometric data, health data, or any other personal information beyond what is necessary to authenticate the account.
• Website content: When — and only when — you click the "Quick Save" or "Analyze" button in the extension popup, the extension reads the title, URL, and main article body of the currently active tab using the Mozilla Readability.js library, and transmits that text to our API over HTTPS. The extension does not read content from inactive tabs, does not scrape pages in the background, and does not read content from pages on which you have not explicitly clicked one of the extension's buttons.
• Web browsing activity: The URL of the active tab is included with each save or analyze request so that the saved article can be associated with its source. The extension does not record your overall browsing history, does not log which pages you visit, and does not transmit any navigation event other than the specific page you have asked it to save or analyze.
• User activity inside the reader window: When you click a word inside the extension's reader window, that single word is sent to our dictionary API so that we can return its definition, IPA, CEFR level, synonyms, antonyms, and (optionally) audio pronunciation. If you click the "Save" button next to a word, that word is added to your personal vocabulary list on your account.

The extension does not collect: financial or payment information, health information, authentication information for any third-party service, personal communications (email, SMS, chat), location data, web history beyond the pages you explicitly act on, user-input form data from third-party websites, keystrokes, screenshots, or any content from pages whose URL starts with chrome://, chrome-extension://, moz-extension://, about:, or edge:// — these internal pages are explicitly excluded in code.

How the Extension Handles and Uses Your Data

Data collected by the extension is used solely to provide the user-facing features described above, namely:

• Authenticating you to your existing Dejavu English account and keeping you signed in.
• Saving the page you choose to your personal Dejavu Reader archive.
• Performing linguistic analysis (word extraction, frequency, CEFR level, translations, examples) on the saved text and returning the result to your reader window.
• Looking up individual words and, on your explicit request, adding them to your personal vocabulary list.
• Generating text-to-speech audio when you click the audio button.

We do not use extension-collected data to serve advertising, to personalize advertising, for behavioural retargeting, to build user profiles outside the Dejavu English service, to train machine-learning or artificial-intelligence models for any third party, or for any purpose unrelated to the single purpose of the extension stated above. We do not sell, rent, or trade data collected by the extension.

How the Extension Stores Your Data

Data is stored in two places:

• On your device: The extension stores (a) your bearer access token and the timestamp at which it was issued, and (b) a transient one-time payload (article text and analysis result) that is handed from the popup to the reader window. The transient payload is deleted from local storage immediately after the reader window reads it. All locally stored extension data lives only in the browser's per-extension storage area on your own device. You can clear it at any time by signing out from the extension, by removing the extension from your browser, or via your browser's "Clear browsing data" / extension-data controls.
• On our servers: Articles you choose to save, vocabulary you choose to save, your account settings, and your hashed authentication credentials are stored in our managed database, hosted by our cloud infrastructure provider in the United Kingdom and/or the European Union. Passwords are stored only as one-way, salted hashes — they are never stored in plain text and cannot be retrieved by us in their original form. We retain this data for as long as you maintain a Dejavu English account. When you delete your account (or ask us to delete it via the contact details below), the associated archive, vocabulary, and authentication records are removed from our active systems within a reasonable period, subject to any retention obligation imposed on us by applicable law.

All data in transit between the extension and our API is encrypted with HTTPS (TLS). Data at rest on our servers is stored within access-controlled, hosted database systems.

How the Extension Shares Your Data

The extension transmits data only to our own backend API at https://api.dejavuenglish.com. The extension's host_permissions in its manifest are restricted to this single origin, and its Content Security Policy explicitly forbids connections to any other host. The extension does not include, load, or communicate with any third-party analytics provider, advertising network, error-tracking service, A/B-testing service, or behavioural-tracking pixel.

Behind our API, we rely on a small, defined set of sub-processors strictly to deliver the service:

• A cloud infrastructure provider, used for compute and database storage.
• A text-to-speech provider, used only when you actively click an audio button — the relevant text and a voice/language selector are sent so the audio can be generated and returned to you.

Each sub-processor is contractually bound to process data only on our behalf and only to the extent necessary to perform its function. We will otherwise disclose extension-collected data to third parties only where (i) you have explicitly consented, (ii) we are required to do so by a binding legal obligation (such as a valid court order), or (iii) it is strictly necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Dejavu English, our users, or the public.

Permissions Requested by the Extension

The extension requests only the browser permissions necessary to perform its single purpose:

• activeTab: Grants temporary access to the currently active tab so the extension can read its content — and only after you have clicked the extension's "Quick Save" or "Analyze" button.
• scripting: Used to inject the Mozilla Readability.js library into the active tab so that the main article text can be extracted. Injection happens only in response to an explicit user click.
• storage: Used to keep your bearer access token on your own device between sessions so you do not have to sign in on every save. The data stored under this permission is never read by any external party.
• Host permission for https://api.dejavuenglish.com/*: Allows the extension to send sign-in, save, analyze, word-lookup, and text-to-speech requests to our own backend. The extension has host permission for no other domain.

Limited Use Disclosure (Chrome Web Store / Mozilla Add-ons)

The use and transfer of information received by the extension to and from any browser-extension store API adhere to the applicable User Data Policies of the corresponding store — including the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and the Mozilla Add-on Policies — and to the Limited Use requirements thereof. In particular: the extension only requests permissions that are strictly necessary for its single, user-facing purpose; data collected by the extension is used only to provide or improve that user-facing purpose; data is not transferred to third parties except as needed to provide or improve user-visible features, to comply with applicable laws, or as part of an explicit user-initiated action; data is not sold, rented, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes; and data is not used for advertising, including personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.

Your Choices Regarding the Extension

You can stop the extension from collecting any further data at any time by signing out from the popup, by removing the extension from your browser, or both. Uninstalling the extension also deletes any locally stored access token. To delete data that was previously saved to your Dejavu English account through the extension (saved articles, saved vocabulary, the account itself), use the account-management screens in the Dejavu English web application or contact us using the details in the "Contact" section at the end of this Privacy Policy.

Children and the Extension

The extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the extension. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through the extension, please contact us using the details in the "Contact" section so we can delete it.

How We Collect and Use Your Personal Information

To provide the Services, we collect and have collected over the past 12 months personal information about you from a variety of sources, as set out below. The information that we collect and use varies depending on how you interact with us.

In addition to the specific uses set out below, we may use information we collect about you to communicate with you, provide the Services, comply with any applicable legal obligations, enforce any applicable terms of service, and to protect or defend the Services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.

What Personal Information We Collect

The types of personal information we obtain about you depends on how you interact with our Site and use our Services. When we use the term "personal information", we are referring to information that identifies, relates to, describes or can be associated with you. The following sections describe the categories and specific types of personal information we collect.

Information We Collect Directly from You

• Basic contact details including your name, address, phone number, email.
• Order information including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment confirmation, email address, phone number.

When you visit our Site, open or click on emails we send you, or interact with our Services or advertisements, we, or third parties we work with, may automatically collect certain information using online tracking technologies such as pixels, web beacons, software developer kits, third-party libraries, and cookies.

Any information we obtain from third parties will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible or liable for the accuracy of the information provided to us by third parties and are not responsible for any third party's policies or practices. How We Use Your Personal Information

Providing Products and Services: We use your personal information to provide you with the Services in order to perform our contract with you, including to process your payments, fulfill your orders, to send notifications to you related to your account, purchases, returns, exchanges or other transactions, to create, maintain and otherwise manage your account, to arrange for shipping, facilitate any returns and exchanges and to enable you to post reviews.

Marketing and Advertising: We use your personal information for marketing and promotional purposes, such as to send marketing, advertising and promotional communications by email, text message or postal mail, and to show you advertisements for products or services. This may include using your personal information to better tailor the Services and advertising on our Site and other websites.

Security and Fraud Prevention: We use your personal information to detect, investigate or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal or malicious activity. Children's Data

The Services are not intended to be used by children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information about children. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with their personal information, you may contact us using the contact details set out below to request that it be deleted.

As of the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we "share" or "sell" (as those terms are defined in applicable law) personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.
